Electricity, water tariff increment takes effect today

Consumers of both electricity and water will from today [Monday, December 14] pay more for the two utilities as the recent increment announced by the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) officially takes effect today.

The 59.2 percent increment for electricity and 67.2 percent for water, have been met with stiff opposition from Ghanaians, who are citing the harsh economic situation and the energy crises as reasons for their rejection.

Power Ministry denies scandalous $510m AMERI deal

The Power ministry has denied reports that it has entered into a compromised $510 million power deal with AMERI.

In a statement, the Power Minister, Dr. Kwabena Donkor described the report which was carried in a Norwegian newspaper, VG , as misleading and false.

Students 4SDGs Campaign launched in Ghana

Youth Advocates Ghana (YAG), a youth-led Non-Governmental Organization in Ghana has launched a new campaign on the UN Sustainable Development Goal (SDGs) dubbed #Students4SDGs.

Emmanuel Ametepey,President of Youth Advocate Ghana explained that  the goal of the campaign is to em¬power students in high schools and universities in Ghana to contribute to the implementation and monitoring of the SDGs.

Cheki Ghana, Road Safety Commission ends Kumasi road show campaign

Cheki Ghana, an online market platform that deals in Automobile, car parts, insurance and auto loans has organized a regional road show campaign to sensitize commercial drivers’ to road safety regulations.

The National Road Safety Commission (NRSC) has over the years attributed the high records of road accidents to fatigue and over-speeding by motorists recorded during the festive period.
